Well, I'm sorry but this is going to be another drive-by blog. There has basically been no work done on the house at all. I started to build a bookcase for the office, but said 'hell-with-it'. I did build something, though. I made 4-drawer chest thingie for Sian. It's intended function is to hold her gemstone beads and assorted tools. We'll see what it actually ends up with. lol
I am on "sabbatical" from the bike shop at the moment. It's winter, bike sales are slow, and a good contract job came up. So, I talked to Jeff about it and he gave his blessing for me to take a month or two off to do this other job. The other job is a highly skilled position referred to as "I.T. Monkey". Basically, I install locks on PCs, upgrade memory, install tape drives on servers, assemble Cisco Catalyst boxes, put IP address lables on switches, that kinda thing.
My employer is Pinnacle Partners, which I've dealt with before. They typically have the coolest contracts with the highest pay. The bad thing is, they don't have many that fit my skillset. When something like this comes up, I take it no matter what I'm doing or where I'm working. The client - my indirect employer - is PepsiCo. Specifically, the Gatorade plant in Indianapolis. I have the benefit of making 50% more than I was at the bike shop, having a drive that's half as long (72 miles vs. 122 miles round-trip), AND saving my friend Jeff some money cuz he doesn't have to pay me for a month or so.
Anyway, that's enough with the employment update...
Today is our anniversary. It's hard to believe that we've been married an entire year now. It's hard to believe that we got as much done as we did. It's hard to believe that I'm still able to walk and have 30% mobility in my shoulders after all of the work we did. But, the house is looking much better, and we have the winter somewhat to ourselves. Except for today. She's in bed, I leave for work soon, it's supposed to be a long day (12+ hours), and she works tonight. Ergo, there won't be any anniversary dinner for us. Yet. Maybe someday we'll even get to take a honeymoon!
