In case you're wondering, there has been nothing-nada-zilch done to the house since Dad-In-Law arrived. I have, however, started a new web site that will take more of my time for a long, long time to come. lol
Someone was looking for information on tools on the Houseblogs.Net forum. Not really prices and such, but real-world applications of those tools. I thought that sounded like a good idea, so I bought a couple of domains: www.thetoolreview.info and www.besthousetools.info.
The site (besthousetools.info just forwards to thetoolreview.info) is slowly coming along. I have the basic structure in place, the list of tools for the "information" section, and a couple of entries there; hammers and screwdrivers. It doesn't seem like there could be much to write about either, but once you start thinking about it, there are lots of different kinds of each and different things that can done with them.
Since I don't claim to be an expert on any of it, I have comment boxes at the end of each page. Not just the entry pages, but the section pages as well - that way if I've missed a tool or group, someone can mention that in a comment.
So, if you have time, go check out TheToolReview.info and leave me any comments you want. If you feel strongly about a certain tool and would like to write the entry about it, let me know. Also, I would much appreciate it if my fellow housebloggers could write short reviews of tools they've bought. Since I'm reviewing tools that I have purchased myself, I'm unlikely to have more than one to review. Of course, I AM a tool whore, so that isn't always going to be true. lol
Comments to date: 6. This is page 1 of 1.

Editing to Add: I've given up on the tool site. Just me being over-ambitious. I have NO time to devote to such a site. Sorry for getting people's hopes up; both of you. :p

Hi Larry,
just a short note to let you know that I didn't forget about the reviews. I have a problem with it, though: I tried to write some while on vacation and realized, that writing something reasonable about tools IN ENGLISH is too difficult for me. All attempts sounded completely nuts because I don't know any of the correct technical terms. I'm really sorry for making empty promises...

Larry & Sian,
Just wanted to let you know that an article about your renovation projects has been written and entered alongside your entry in the Remodel Blog & Win online contest at RemodelingMySpace.com
I think it would depend on the reader. I have several German tools (both auto-related and woodworking-related) and am very, very fond of them. I know that some tools are available over here, so I think reviews of German tools would be worthwhile. Not all of us can afford things like a new Festool Domino, of course, but I think there are enough readers who can.
If you're willing to write some reviews for the site, I'd much appreciate it.

Hi Larry!
I think this is a really good idea, thanks for providing that platform! Just one question about the review part: I could probably add some reviews on useful and less useful ;) tools we bought. But I'm not sure whether these experiences with tools you can buy in Germany are of any interest for American readers?
