I've been pretty lazy lately. I put up a couple of pieces of beadboard in the laundry room, I stapled up another piece of insulation, I built a new door for the basement, I planted a tree to replace my Redbud that died because of the surprise freeze we had this year, and that's about it really.
I did get to use my new pocket hole jig though, which was cool. I didn't follow the flock and buy a Kreg...I bought a Wolfcraft 4643. It's incredibly easy to use and works well. I didn't get the nifty Vise-Grips that you get with the Kreg set, but the Wolfcraft was about half the price, too.
Anyway, I used the pocket hole jig to build the door for the basement. This is the door on the floor, in case you haven't seen it on here before. It needs to be able to support my fat butt, so it needs to be strong. I built it using 2x4s oriented sideways, and joined it with 2.5" combo drive deck screws in pocket holes. It's covered with the same boards I'm using for the ceiling - 1"x6" carsiding. I got as far as putting it over the hole and laying the hinges on it. I needed some #12 screws, so I didn't finish it yesterday. I'm dealing with a cramping calf muscle today, so I didn't do ANYthing today.
Other than that, there isn't much to write about, so I'll just throw some pictures on here and call it a day.
The potted plants Sian put together for the side entrance
The 50+ year old rose bush in the side yard.
Peonies and the old basement door.
Irises, and the neighbours house - which makes mine look good...
The front yard rose bush. It's really old, also.
A picture of the window trim all painted and purty. I couldn't remember if I'd posted a pic of it or not previously.
Elmo on the dryer.
Elmo on the washer. Had to get both of those in, ya know. lol.
The best Elmo-pic so far. Ignore the big gap in the corner...the kitchen-side wall is not straight at ALL, which I didn't realize until I'd already put up the beadboard. 1"x4" corner trim, anyone?.

Love the garden. Elmo isn't actually on the dryer -- he's on the pile of warm, clean clothes -- I have two cats (my girls) that will race you to where they think you are going to put those warm clothes to get on them before you can fold them! LOL

I've been clicking through your site for the better part of an hour now. Very nice! Joel and I found this two story 4 BR "fixer upper" in a neighbouring town. I'm so hooked...we both like it, and we've talked about being able to have a house we can carve out and make our own. *sigh* I'm having a serious case of house lust right now...and if that real estate agent doesn't contact me soon...
I love what you've all done with this house, btw. Just one question...is one EVER done with renovating an old house? *smiles*

Well, the garden is coming along nicely. I've been busy planting and digging in flower beds today. When it's all done I'll let Larry take some pics and post them for you all! :)

Elmo is SOOOO cute! I love cats. The garden looks lovely, I like gardens that are more carefree, instead of straight lines of boxed in flowers.

Oops. Do I really not HAVE a wedding picture on here? I coulda sworn that I did. Reckon I'll have to rectify that oversight, eh?

Ah, well, ya see.... I'm not really sure what he looks like. I remember bringing a small person home from the airport in December, but that was about the last time I saw him. He's either at school, in his room playing with his DS, on his computer, watching TV, or playing on his Wii. Let me dig around and see if I can come up with a pic of him. (Isn't he in the wedding picture back in December?)

Love those peonies! I really like reading your website; you're funny, plus I like to Southern slang like if'n. But where's your stepson? You never post pics of him.

I love those old rose bushes, they're beautiful!
And hey, Elmo looks like a double of our Ferdinand ;)
