April 22, 2007 :: Much Pictures, Little Talk

It's another one of those days where I'll just have time to post a few pictures, upload all of this, and then pass out in bed so I can get up in the morning.

The big news lately has been it being a constant shopping spree. I've been bringing home a truck load every day...the benefit of working (temporarily) at a hardware store. I think I've spent close to $2000 in the 3 weeks I've been there, but have taken home about $3500 or so in retail value. You'll be able to see some of my plunder in the photos below...

My shiny new DeWalt biscuit joiner.

An assortment of clamps and an angle gauge.

The corner cupboard Dave gave me last year. It still hasn't been restored, obviously. I want to use it in the kitchen, but I don't know where it will fit. Right now, it's holding some of my booty from the hardware store.

The faucet for the new sink (in the box below the faucet, in case you didn't notice).

A little thing I threw together to hold my router bits. As soon as I find the missing box with my other 25 bits, I'll be happy. Honestly...I have no idea where it is.

Just a pic of the clutter on my portable work bench. Box of stainless steel screws, box knife, old screwdriver, etc.

I've been building a fence for my (future) router table. It's on the tiny little one right now.

An awesome little plane I bought at work. It's from one of the specialty lines....can't remember which one. Below it is a drill/hole saw/drill stop/driver bit set I bought at TSC for $10.

Shavings from playing with the plane...

Hmmm....the sink again.

"AlignRight" thingies for properly positioning knobs and pulls for drawers and doors Handy, since I'll be building the cabinets for the kitchen...

More assorted plunder. Hole saws, knobs for the router fence/table, wood biscuits, etc.

Another shot of the router table fence. (It isn't finished, in case you're wondering... It needs some clean-up and such).

Handy-Dandy ladder stabilizer...

And now for the house...

Sian found this when she was scraping the LR window...

This is on the other one.

Sian has been very busy scraping...

...and painting.

Another view.

Well, that's it for this time. I'll post some actual writing next time, I hope. Until then, feel free to comment and keep me company. lol

Never underestimate the power of shiny new tools to keep one motivated. Besides...Better tools = Better results, usually. Using a biscuit joiner to put a bookcase together should have a much better result than using twigs and holes, randomly drilled. LOL

Dude. I'm jealous. Too many good things in these pictures. I'm happy for you of course! :) The Roman Numerals are a neat discovery!

I reckon this blog entry should be named "Ooooh look, I've got new tools! Oh and I think Sian did some painting." :P

We have Roman numerals on our windows too. That is a numbering system for your windows. The next one to the side will be either VI or VIII.

Wow, what you've got done looks great...but WOWWWW what a lot of work! (I'm sure you both know better than anyone!) I laughed, considering Sian and all ;) at your 'biscuit' joiner and wood biscuits...with an Englishman in the house myself, all I could think was cookie joiner. Heh. Will be watching as you move forward with this...can't wait to see it progress! Take care...Michelle

Tool lust. Serious, serious tool lust... maybe I should get a part-time job at a hardware store.
