  March 28, 2007 :: Progress and Changes

Today is my 3 month wedding anniversary. Monthiversary? Whatever. It stormed all night, so there won't be any working done outside. Also, neither Sian nor Jordan got very much sleep. Me...I can sleep through anything; including having the apartment across the hall burn completely. True story... when I lived in Beech Grove, the apartment across the hall was gutted on Xmas Eve. I slept through the fire alarms, the fire trucks, the firemen breaking down the door, the banging on the door during the evacuation, etc. I sleep VERY soundly. lol.

We did get a bit of work done yesterday and the day before. Today I've been working on the website. I've finally added a real comment script, so I'm sure to get all kinds of viagra spam and such. If that happens, I'll grab a different script and try that. And on and on and on.... Isn't it too bad that the spammers use proxies so that we can't locate them and beat them? I really, REALLY want to get an hour alone with a spammer and whatever power tools I can fit in a small tool bag. Now you know what to get me for Christmas...

I'll probably be doing some kind of redesign of the site too, so look for that in the next few days. I like the black, grey, and white, but I like colour too. Also, the message board will be going away. No one has joined since I installed the new board a couple of months ago, so there's no reason for it to continue to exist.

I think that's about it for updates, so I'll let you get to the pictures now.

I started the trim for the walls and door Monday. The factory-installed trim had to go.

Here's the paint with a second coat. I'll probably eventually replace that short clapboard that split...

Most of the day Monday was spent building this. My tablesaw wasn't mobile, and my miter saw kept falling off of my makeshift stands. So I built a cart for both. When the tablesaw is on top...it's a little high. Ok, a LOT too high. But I needed the height for the shelf to hold it when I'm using the miter saw. Guess I'll build a raised platform to stand on... LOL

A close-up of the cart top, for some odd reason.

The bottom of the cart....and my yard. Was I drunk when I took this?

Sian worked on painting the front of the house Monday...

Yesterday was spent finishing up the outside work on the laundry room.

Now THIS was a challenge. The light sits far enough away from the house that a block behind it wasn't needed. However, the top and base come very close to the house. Ergo, some jigsaw work was needed to make it all fit. This is the result.

...and this.

Here it is from a "normal" view.

I'm gonna hate painting that wood... Too bad all of the cedar boards didn't look like that. Otherwise, I might have stained and sealed the house instead of painting it.

A little note for posterity...

Now THERE was some more Jigsaw Fun!

The view at the end of the day yesterday.

Take 2...

Another picture of my saw cart just cuz I like it so damn much.
