  December 31, 2006 :: I'm What?

Hmmm....
It's been a busy few days since I last posted. Having a functional laundry room became a top priority. So, we began tearing out the walls and ceiling in the soon-to-be laundry room. Prior to this, however, there were a few other notable events.

Firstly, I last posted on Christmas Eve, so I reckon I should briefly update y'all about Christmas. It started as most Christmases do when there are kids in the house; an early-morning wake up call so presents can be opened.

Sian and I stumbled bleary-eyed out of bed and descended the treacherous stairs down to present-land. No need for a play-by play... Jordan was mostly happy. He didn't get a Wii like he wanted because there just weren't any. He did get a RoboPet, Pirates of the Caribbean chess set, Smithsonian Archeology set, a couple of DVDs, and assorted other stuff. Sian got a pair of Tsavorite Garnet earrings, Altec-Lansing iPod speakers, screwdrivers and gloves (he he he), bath "stuff" assortment, a DVD, a wooden kitty shelf-sitter thing, a $100 Macy's gift card, a wood block candle holder, and assorted candy and stuff.

As for me, I got a router and table, big box o' Lego (hehehe), Family Guy seasons 1 & 2 DVDs, a couple of books (books are good), a $100 Lowes gift card (for both Sian and I, really), a $100 Macy's gift card, and a few other things that I can't remember now.

The best present came later, though.
On December 28th, 2006 at 2pm EST, Sian and I were married at the Putnam County courthouse. We're all official now, and need to soon begin the paperwork for the AOS (Adjustment of Status) stage. We're still walking around the house saying to each other, "We're married. LOL!" Well, we don't actually say LOL....

Now for the laundry room. Comments for the pictures will be few. I'm nasty-sick at the moment. Did I mention that Sian was sick for our wedding? Aye, congestion, coughing, etc. Now I have it (again). So, the laundry room will likely stay much as it is in the following pictures for the next few days. Besides, it's raining now.

I have no idea who E.H.K. is. Maybe a workman? No one with a last name starting with a K owned the house in 1902. I saved that board. Don't know what I'll do with it.

Looks like there was a door or a very big window here at one time. I vote for a door.

The wall planks were covered with newspaper. I managed to find one piece that was intact enough to get a date off of it. January 10, 1882.

Here's the new cedar clapboards for the "addition".

Here's my house looking like a shack in the West Virginian mountains...

Here's my WIFE peeking out from behind the new door.

This is as far as we got last night. It was 11pm, and I really didn't want to wake the neighbours up. Today, of course, it's been raining all day, and I'm sick. Still, I think I'll try to get some of it done...
