  October 21, 2006 :: Neighborliness & Doors

First I want to thank "donutboy" from Life In Our Old Stone House for sending me a Gen-U-Ine Black and Decker Rapid Charger for my nail gun. I hope that he had this "just laying around" because the tool fairy brought him some new DeWalt tools and he didn't need it any longer. I'm very, very grateful to him for sending this to me. It's something I needed, but it wasn't in the budget. So, thanks man!

Next, I didn't update a few days ago. Work and all that, ya know. So this is an update for Wednesday AND today....

Wednesday I worked on the walls in the bedroom. Well, one wall really. I got the planks up on the wall by the doorway. I still wasn't able to "finish" the wall though, since I'm out of carsiding for the wainscot, AND out of money. Next week, I reckon. That was all of the progress on Wednesday.

Today I worked on the door. No, I didn't spend much time working upstairs. About 2 hours. But I got the jambs and the door ready for painting. I'll not tell you anymore about it, and make you look at the pictures instead. lol

Wednesday

No need to comment....just 3 pics of the wall after I worked on it last.

Saturday

Here is the door just after I'd installed the hinges. You can see some of the wood chips from my chiseling endeavour on the floor.

Just a close-up of the hinge...

Here I've added the hinge-side door jamb.

Here it is with the jambs/frame finished. Yes, I'm building a transom for it.

The initial fitting in the opening... You can see that three of the wall planks are hitting the jamb. The reciprocating saw took care of that.

Installed and leveled.

The view from the other side. I left the door open a bit to illustrate that it stays where you leave it. lol No self-closing/opening doors for me.
