  October 7, 2006 :: Breathing Plaster Dust Again - Part 2

I swear this is the last one for today. I had to go upstairs and work some more, or I'd feel like a lazy bum and would probably suffer the wrath of a woman bedroom-less in 5 weeks. So, I did a little bit of work. Can't do much since it's 11:30pm and saws and hammering tend to make a bit of noise.

A bit of wainscotting. This is the landing/hall, in case you've forgotten. Bedroom door is there on the right.

The view from the other side. ie: From inside the bedroom.

The "mysterious artifact" from earlier today. Easy access to the attic over the addition.

Not the greatest job in the world, but it does a bit to hide the hinges.

As for the gaps at the top and bottom of the door.... I'd like to say that I planned it that way....but I didn't. The shortness of the door is the result of poor measurement and planning on my part. However.... now that it's done, I can see that it actually will work out well. There will, of course, be baseboard on the bottom. That will hide the gap there, and will allow me to install a threshold-type thing to help seal the door. There will be weatherstripping on the sides and top, as well. At the top, I'll fill it in with whatever is laying around. That's where the chair rail will be. That way it's half over the wainscot and half over the drywall above it. Will make the top parting line of the door disappear, or that's my hope.

Tomorrow will be spent cleaning up the mess I made today. Just when I got the bedroom cleared out, I had to make another gigantic pile of lath and plaster. lol. I may try to do a little more wiring tomorrow as well. I haven't decided yet. Will keep y'all posted. Both of you. LOL!
