August 3, 2006 :: The Heat Wave Breaks (maybe)
Well, after a week of temperatures hovering near 100, with an average heat index of 108°, I finally got a little more done on the master bedroom. If you're expecting great amounts of progress, you'll be disappointed. I've been awake since I got home from work at 7:30am, and am barely functional at the moment. I'm amazed I didn't fall off of the ladder, to be honest.
So what DID I get done? Well, the plywood for the attic floor did get nailed down the other day. A non-moving floor is always a good thing. Today I removed nails. I'm sure there's a less exciting job, but I've yet to find it. A lot of plaster means a lot of lath, which means a LOT of nails. So, I pulled nails. I also put up some insulation. One bonus - the insulation comes in bags of 11 bats. There are 11 spaces between my rafters in the bedroom. Yay! Something actually works out! lol.
It looks like I will need a total of 44 bats for the bedroom ceiling. I had 11. So, 3 more bags to purchase. Why not buy them now? Because I didn't get my @#$%$#$% paycheck today!!! Foxconn hasn't approved any of our (us being the contract employees working for Adecco) hours yet. I have some MAJORLY important bills that had to be paid today. No such luck. They're *hoping* that they can pay us tomorrow. Meanwhile, I'll search the floor for some old Doritos crumbs to eat. Mmmmm.....Flooritos!
Ok, so here are the pictures of today's adventure in home improvement....
Look! Pretty, new insulation!
Looks like there's a lot of it, doesn't it?
....sorry to disappoint. There's still quite a bit to do.
Here you can see insulation AND the part of the attic floor that exists at the moment. Exciting, I know.
So, there you have it. That's the progress I've made today. At this rate, I'll have it all done by 2039!
