May 5, 2006 :: Cinco de Mayo Photo Fiesta
I went back upstairs last night to take some pictures for y'all and to clean up the piles of debris from my earlier work. After I'd taken the pictures, I realized that a) It was 2a.m. Throwing bags of plaster to the ground below makes a lot of noise... and b) my back was hurting pretty badly.
As such, the plaster is still up there decorating the floor. Maybe early next week, eh? Anyway, here are some pictures for ya...
Yet another shot of the wall. I did pull off more lath and pull the nails out, at least...
Ditto.
Nothing like a gigantic pile of plaster, lath, and insulation. Again.
Just a gratuitous ceiling shot.
If I stand here and look, it seems that the ceiling demolition is done....
But then I turn to the right a bit....
I have the very latest in electrical conductivity and insulation devices in my house!
That really looks like an adze mark in the center of that beam (and all down the length of all of them, actually)
I'm sure that diagonal brace is doing quite a bit of work. lol
Holy Crap!!! (This was the first time I'd ever seen my chimney from inside the house) Nice widening job. I suppose I'll have to address that someday, won't I? *sigh*
Looks like one of the wires didn't want to hang around on the insulator any longer....
The sheet covers the opening into the future office/library/guest room. Eventually, that (the opening) will be a shallow closet.
Anyone need a slightly used chair? There was a matching sofa at one point, but it fell completely apart. Grandma bought the set around 1955.
Apparently, my roof was originally covered with cedar shakes.
Top arrow - split and destroyed window trim (it's all like that) Bottom arrow - There's one "real" outlet in this room, and this ain't it. This was a glorified extension cord nailed to the baseboard.
This is the window that was replaced; or one of the sashes anyway. There's only one. The other sash did a swan dive to the ground below, smashing itself to bits. Hard to see in the pic, but the top of that sash isn't actually connected to anything....it's just sitting on there for convenience.
