I almost finished it up today. The part that I'm planning on doing before Sian arrives, at least. The ceiling is still hideous, and the arch into the kitchen still exists, but this once pink & grey striped wall is now entirely "canvas white", the bench is gone, and there is light in the hallway!
On the negative side, there is dust EVERYwhere. Ever sanded plaster from the 1920s? Fun! I figure it'll take about 10 days of dusting to remove all visible traces of the home repairs from the past couple of months. Visible. I still expect Sian to open a cabinet or drawer that I haven't touched in weeks and release a dust cloud that will overwhelm her, requiring me to perform mouth-to-mouth. Can't have that, can we? ;o)
Anyhoo, here's the office/hallway wall as it looks at this very moment. I still have to install the quarter-round trim at the bottom and touch up a few places. Other than moving a few pieces of furniture back in here, this room is very close to "done" (for now).
No, the window isn't really black. Thank Photoshop for that.... There's way too much stuff piled up in there right now. (Tools, lumber, etc)
Here's the wall directly across from where I'm sitting. to the right a bit is the corner, and then the new double doors I installed last month. You can see the hideousness of the ceiling in this picture....
Just an "artsy" angle shot of the wall.
For contrast.... There's the ceiling in all of its grossness. Also, you can see the chunks of plaster missing from the wall on the left side of the arch. That happened when I gutted the bathroom (the door there to the left). Lastly, you can see the old wallpaper on the wall there, and maybe appreciate just HOW dark it was in that short hallway....
A novelty for you.... the electical outlet in this room allows up to 5 items to be plugged in at once. I hate to change it, just because it's so odd.
