I made a nasty discovery, or rather a re-discovery, last night. I removed "The Bench". The Bench was a creation from the early days.... It was made from the salvaged parts of a waterbed base - the right and left halves stacked on top of each other. It had 6 drawers, held all of my towels and bed sheets, and was supposed to be a place for people to sit. That rarely happened, as it became a "catch-all" for my assorted crap. It also covered up some "bad places" in the floor. I never investigated further than that. Well, I decided the bench had to go, so I removed it. What I found wasn't pretty.
Here, Lyrus demonstrates that the floor still performs adequately for his needs.
Why yes, those ARE big gaping holes where there should be wood....
What's this pile of "stuff" on the floor? Scroll down to find out.
So, why did I remove the bench in the first place? I couldn't take the wallpaper any longer. I have a gorgeous female arriving in 4 weeks, and I really don't want her seeing the pink and grey candy-striped wallpaper in person. So, it's going away. For that, the bench had to go away.
The wallpaper REALLY wants to stay. It fought a brave fight.
Apparently, the various people who owned this house NEVER had any kind of good taste in wallpaper.
The wallpaper lost the fight.
Now, just some pictures of something that decided to peek out of the ground today....
