Has it really been that long since I posted anything? Wow. Well, there hasn't been a lot going on at 201 Columbia. I built the coat cubby-type thing for the wall, and I stripped the paint from a couple of 1880s era coathooks to use in the cubby.
On a side note, if anyone needs a limited quantity of these coat hooks, let me know. I can sell a few of them. I need to keep several for myself though to use throughout the house. There are REAL Victorian-era coat hooks, NOT reproductions. You'll get them as they are...coated with white lead paint. To save the screws from my ham-fistedness, I'll just chop a piece off of the board that they are screwed to, and you can do the removal yourself.
The beginnings of the coat cubby.
Top portion attached to the base with glued dowels.
Mounted in the wall. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry (Dave wanted his nail gun back), so I got it a little crooked. I consider it "Era-Correct Imperfection". LOL
Here are the coat hooks in their natural habitat.
Here they after being soaked in vinegar overnight. The top one has had nothing else done to it, while the bottom one has been detail-cleaned with a razor blade.
